I'm on my second P-Day already! It's kind of strange how fast things are moving already. Starting with last P-Day, we went to the temple as a zone. It was awesome having everyone there together. On Sunday we got to walk around the temple grounds as well and get pictures together during the weekly temple walk.
Sunday! Because it was Easter, Elder Dallin H. Oaks came and spoke to us! It was so awesome! That evening was choir practice, and what is pretty cool about it is that we learn a song that evening for only about an hour, then we perform it during the devotional and we still sound amazing. The evening devotional was by Sheri Dew. Following that we watched a devotional that Elder David A. Bednar gave on a Christmas day. Three devotionals in a day! Whew.
The Spanish is coming along alright. I can pray in Spanish only, though it's always pretty short and very basic. Last Sunday I actually gave the opening prayer in Spanish for sacrament meeting As for the language I'm able to understand more about what is being said, though that's just our teachers speaking slowly for us. I heard some native speakers talking and I couldn't understand a word. Oh well, I'll get there eventually.
Gym time is pretty cool. As a zone we basically all always play four-square, and it gets pretty competitive, and I'm pretty fantastic at it; I finally see the perk of having long arms...
I am having a great time here. Trying to teach lessons in another language is very difficult, but we're getting there. A lot of people tend to feel very defeated and hopeless when a lesson doesn't turn out how they wanted, but I know that is the exact reason we're here in the MTC, so we can practice and improve. Everything is stressful and difficult, but I am still loving it here. The constant spirit is amazing and constantly uplifts me when I'm feeling occasionally down.
By the way, this Wednesday our district gets to be hosts (we'll help any new missionaries that are dropped off find their room, know where to go, and what to do the first day)! So I am looking forward to that. We're no longer the new kids on the block.
Thank you to everyone who sends me emails and letters, though I don't remember/don't have time to respond to them all, I read each and every single one and I am so grateful for them! I love you all!
Elder Lewis
P.S. There's this tree on the campus, between all the classroom buildings, that smells like cream soda. I don't have a clue why or how anyone found this out, but its true.
