The end of the transfer is coming up soon. This transfer was short because our current mission president, President Heap, is going home this transfer, so it's only 5 weeks. This coming Saturday night we'll be getting our transfer calls. I'll let you all know next week that I'll continue to stay in Portales. ;)
We had Zone Conference Tuesday. It was cool having so many missionaries meet together again after leaving the MTC. President Heap compared a mission to the Garden of Eden, and that really, all we have to do is talk with people. Everything else is taken care of, the car, the money for food and other stuff, and we plan out our day so we always know what we're doing. The mission is really the best it could get. After the mission we're sent out into the lone and dreary world. I thought that was a really cool comparison.
After that we had exchanges. I was with Elder Field until Wednesday evening. We worked on contacting a bit and he had me pick whichever street I wanted, and upon knocking that street we found a family that had previously been taught by missionaries in Oklahoma, but they moved and hadn't since then! Elder Field pointed out to me that whether I realized it or not, me choosing the street was guided by the Spirit. So now there's a really nice family that are being visited again!
Wednesday night we intended to meet with two investigators, but for some reason neither of them were home, which is unusual. Upon attempting by the second investigator, his neighbor was outside working on his car. He used to meet with the missionaries before but we could never get in contact with him. We were able to chat a bit and then we ended sitting down and having a really great conversation. It turns out he reads from the BoM and Bible every day! He wants to improve so badly but isn't sure exactly how to go about doing that. He is pretty vague with what needs improving, but it's something that he'll need to work out with time. In any case I know that visit helped him in some way. He even said afterwards that it helped him. The Lord knows exactly where we'll be and how to put others in our path. It was such an awesome experience.
The rest of the week we spent a lot of time in Clovis and Muleshoe, so ultimately after all that has happened this week, we really haven't been working in our area a whole lot, but that's alright, because I was able to learn a lot.
Happy Father's Day everyone! I'm happy to hear from everyone's week! Have a great one!
